Weekly Tip No 14 - Use your printer regularly

Even if there is nothing to print, it is a practice to print a few test pages. This will keep the print head moist and the ink flowing, reducing the chances of clogging.

Weekly Tip No 13 - Cleaning The Paper Feed Rollers

Take a piece of thick matte paper, inexpensive water color paper or other absorbent paper, and spray one side of it until slightly damp with ammoniated window cleaner like Windex (NOT soaking wet so that it disintegrates). Next, load it through the printer several times with the LOAD/EJECT button, flipping the paper around one side and then the other. If the paper dries out, give it another spray and repeat a few more times. This may also clean some ink spills on some of the rollers. Then send some normal bond paper through the printer to dry everything off.

Weekly Tip No 12 - Switch off your printer properly

Switch off your printer using the on/off button. Don't switch it off directly at the power source. Switching off at the on/off button ensures that the 'capping' mechanism to be fully engage, sealing the outside air from the printhead. And you can keep your printer longer.

Weekly Tip No 11 - How to get more out of your toner

When many toner cartridges start to skip, streak, miss, etc., they still have 10-15% of their toner left. This is more often the case with copiers and faxes when they show vertical streaks on the printed page. Remove the cartridge and gently shake, tip and rotate to redistribute the toner. Then just put it back in the machine and keep working. You will usually get 10-15% more out of your cartridge this way (you can do this two or three times to get most of it out).
